Must-try “Experimental” Korean Beer

Koreans love beer, so it’s no surprise that there are a lot of famous local breweries in Korea making quality craft beer. Some of our favourite craft beers of late come from Amazing Brewing Company, a brewery known for making “experimental” brews.

Seongsu-dong American Pale Ale (Alc 4.5%)
A light, refreshing ale named after Seongsu-dong, the hometown of the brewery. The beer has a clear appearance and is highly carbonated. The orange and pine fragrance gently coat the mouth, harmonising with the aroma of bread.

A favourite among young people is the “Titanic” combining beer and shochu: a shochu glass is placed inside a beer glass that is 70% full. Summer Fun: Homemade Makgeolli

Makgeolli is a traditional Korean rice wine with a very long history. Bring home this Haeoreum House Makgeolli Kit and you can also easily make makgeolli.

Contains 10% brown rice, which gives a rich and smooth taste much like that of original rice wine. Only takes 24 hours to ferment, while traditional method takes 3-5 weeks.


  1. In a bowl or bottle, add makgeolli powder and enzyme powder, as well as 1.5L of lukewarm water (around 25℃.).
  2. Stir well.
  3. Cover well with lid, and let rest for 24 hours at room temperature, between 20℃ to 25℃.
  4. Enjoy once fermentation is complete. Keep the contents in a tightly sealed container. Can keep fresh in the fridge for 30 days.
