Champagne & Cheese Pairing with Philippe Gonet Beautiful, golden Champagne is elegant, seductive and romantic – a must-have for every celebration. city'super has brought you two wines from Philippe Gonet in France, as well as a lovely truffle cheese for an excellent pairing! About Philippe GonetWith the cellar dating back to 1783, Philippe Gonet is located at the heart of Le-Mesnil-sur-Oger neighbouring the famous Champagne Salon, and a stone’s throw away from the legendary parcel Clos du Mesnil. The estate owns 23 hectares of vineyards in total and divided among 11 parcels, which are all Grand Crus or Premier Crus. The oldest vines were planted back in 1929. Only natural and traditional approaches are applied in their vinification, and the annual production is small which allows them to ensure better quality for each cuvee. Philippe Gonet Belemnita Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut 2005 Only produced in exceptional vintages, only 2,700 bottles of this wine were produced in 2005. With a hint of toasted brioche accenting flavours of apple, pear, lemon, smoke and crystallized honey. Refined texture, focused acidity. Philippe Gonet Réserve Brut NV Fruity and floral nose with notes of pear and apple. Full-bodied and well-balanced. Supple and elegant with fineness on the finish. We recommend pairing with Brie with Truffle 2.5%. This sophisticated cheese has a powerful flavour of fresh Perigord truffles and a smooth texture. |
