Summer Seasonal Sweetness:
3 Must-try Thai Mangoes
Thailand is the land of mangoes. During mango season, the air is filled with the lovely sweet and tart aroma of the wonderful fruit. city’super’s professional buying team have been travelling across Thailand to source the best premium mangoes. Whether you like the refreshingly sweet and tender Sui Sin Mango, or the sweet and crunchy Rainbow Mango, we’re here to make your wish come true!
Thai Ruby Mango
This mango can only be cultivated in limited areas and is closely surprised by professor-level experts. The fruits are harvested once fully ripe on the tree, and the whole cultivation process is completely natural. The fruit has thick flesh and a small seed, with fine fibers in the flesh. It is refreshingly sweet and juicy with an elegant floral aroma. Its sweetness level averages at 18 degrees or higher, and the mango is non-GMO.
Thai Rainbow Mango
Available for a limited time only, typically around April. The flesh is firmer, and is sweeter compared to the Nam Dok Mai variety, making it a mango of the “richly sweet” category. Before fully ripening, the skin of the sweet and dense Rainbow Mango displays three different colours, just like a beautiful rainbow.
Thai Sui Sin Mango (Nam Dok Mai)
Harvested between the months of March and June, the production of this mango is relatively stable. In Thai, this mango is called “Nam Dok Mai” and is named after its narcissus-like floral fragrance. It has vibrant yellow skin and the flesh has an egg yolk-like colour. It is soft, tender, sweet and juicy with a hint of tartness. Its shape is more slender than average mangoes with a pointed tip and wider base and has a uniform size.

Thai Kan Yao Durian
In Thai, Kan Yao means “long stem” or “long handle”. Often referred as “Thai King’s Fruit”, this durian has a buttery and creamy texture and delightful sweetness.
Thai Gem Durian
A rare variety that accounts for 5% of Thailand’s national production. In season between April and June, the durian skin has deep lime colour while the golden yellow flesh has an intense fragrance and melt-in-your-mouth texture. It has a mildly alcoholic flavour and bitterness, and has a strong aftertaste. It is regarded as one of Thailand’s premium durians and is comparable to the lauded Musang King variety.
Thai Phoenix Durian
The Phoenix Durian is produced in a concealed region, and requires the use of motorcycles to navigate through the plantations during harvesting, where the fruits are carefully transported to the foot of the mountain for packaging. The Phoenix Durian is a rare and new variety in Thailand that accounts for only 3% of total production. The fruit is relatively smaller in size, with golden yellow flesh that is incredibly smooth and velvety with a unique honey-like sweetness.

Hot Recommendation: Thai Rouge Pomelo
Originating from Bapannan District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province in southern Thailand, this fruit is a registered Geographical Indication (GI) variety. After undergoing rigorous selection in the orchards, each fruit must also pass the quality inspection by the Ministry of Agriculture.
Enjoyed by the Thai royal family, this pomelo is a premium fruit that only accounts for about 5% of Thailand’s total pomelo production. Sweet and juicy, the large fruit has thin skin and non-astringent flesh with a refreshing mouthfeel.
The flesh has an irresistible light red colour and contains 40 times more lycopene and beta-carotene than regular pomelos, along with plenty of dietary fibre and vitamins.
Tips on Choosing the Best Pomelos:
1. A heavy and plump pomelo indicates juicy flesh
