Vinous: "Good dark red. Very rich, ripe aromas of cherry liqueur, cocoa powder and licorice. Then rather sullen in the mid-palate and not currently showing the sweetness or pliancy of the Monfalletto.  Finishes with a dry tannic edge."

Cordero di Montezemolo is a family run estate in the heart of the Barolo region in Piedmont, Italy, with a winemaking heritage spanning over six centuries. The estate’s history dates back to 1340. Today, the winery is managed by Giovanni Cordero di Montezemolo, together with his children Elena and Alberto, representing the 19th generation.

Fermentation and maceration in stainless steel tanks for about 10 days. Malolactic fermentation and 20 months ageing in barrels of varying origin (French and Slavonian oak) and size (from 228-litre barriques to 30,000-litre barrels)From Barolo Cru “Gattera” vineyard, located in La Morra municipality. 30-60 years old vines, silt soil with clay and a small percentage of sand, low in active lime.

 Rich in magnesium and manganese.Very finely characterised, fragrant nose, with notes of ripe red cherry, lots of rose petals, interwoven. Very supple and polished on the palate, lots of rich, ripe fruit, opens up with fine, very vivid tannins, beautiful texture, long finish, some tobacco.
