Founded in Beaune in 1859, Maison Louis Jadot is one of Burgundy’s defining négociant houses. Head winemaker Frédéric Barnier focuses on a low-intervention approach designed to express individual sub-regional terroirs cleanly and accurately across their portfolio.

Harvested manually, the Pinot Noir grapes are sorted rigorously before destemming. Fermentation takes place in open-top vats over 3 to 4 weeks, with regular punch-downs (pigeage) and pump-overs to achieve optimal extraction of color and tannins. The wine is then aged for approximately 15 to 18 months in French oak barrels from Jadot’s own cooperage (about 30% new oak), adding structural polish and subtle spice without overpowering the purity of the red fruit.

Located in the Côte de Beaune, Les Guettes (often bottled as Clos des Guettes by Domaine Gagey/Louis Jadot) sits high on the steep, south-facing slope overlooking Savigny-lès-Beaune. The 2022 vintage benefited from generous sunshine and a warm growing season. Planted on gravelly, limestone-rich soils with clay, this elevated Premier Cru plot provides excellent natural drainage and temperature variation, yielding grapes with rich concentration balanced by fresh acidity.

The Louis Jadot Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Guettes Rouge 2022 displays a vibrant ruby color. On the nose, it delivers an expressive bouquet of ripe red cherries, wild raspberries, and blackcurrants, accented by subtle hints of clove, damp earth, and violet floral notes. The palate is medium-bodied, velvety, and supple, showing fine-grained tannins, balanced acidity, and a charming, spice-tinged finish.
