Canadian Black Cod Slice [Previously Frozen] is a pre-packaged, portioned cut of fish from a species more accurately known as sablefish (Anoplopoma fimbria), which is commonly marketed as "black cod". 

• Origin & Habitat: This product comes from Canada, typically caught in the deep, cold Pacific waters off the coast of British Columbia. These fish can live at depths of up to 5,000 feet.

• Flavor & Texture: Black cod is highly prized for its rich, buttery flavor and delicate, melt-in-your-mouth texture. This is due to its high oil content, which is also an excellent source of healthy omega-3 fatty acids.

• Nickname: Because of its luxurious, fatty texture, it's sometimes called "butterfish".

• It was frozen fresh: The fish was frozen shortly after being caught, often using a method like flash-freezing at sea to lock in peak freshness and quality.
