Yamaga City, Kumamoto Prefecture, has been prosperous since ancient times and is well-known on growing rice. Established in 2013, SHONOYUME, an agricultural cooperative, has been promoting the high-quality rice grown there. This incredibly high-quality rice is grown with pure groundwaters rich in minerals, nutritious soil sprinkled with fossil coral powder from Yonaguni Island in Okinawa Prefecture. It is sticky and delicious when cooked.
