Description
| Grape Varietals: Syrah Region: Stellenbosch, South Africa Ratings: James Suckling 91 points (2021) James Suckling 91 points (2021): "Black fruit, black olives, roasted herbs and bacon fat on the nose of this meaty red. It’s full-bodied, juicy and fleshy." Journey's End was awarded Drink Business's Ethical Company of the Year for two consecutive years (2020 & 21). It holds multiple sustainability/environmental certifications, including B Corp and the South African Sustainable Seal. Crafting in Rhone style, the winery is recommended by Decanter and consistently scores 90 points from James Suckling. Higher temperature carbonic fermentation in stainless-steel tank. The fruit weight naturally presses the lower bunches releasing juice in a very gentle fashion. Aged for 16 months in 30% new American oak and 20% new French oak. The grapes were handpicked from Block 13, which is home to shiraz vines over 30 years old, and protected from the sea breeze by a row of pine trees.The vineyards are situated 200m above sea level, south facing slopes, and just 7km from the ocean. |
