Grape Varietals: Chardonnay
Region: Côte de Beaune, France
Founded in Beaune in 1859, Maison Louis Jadot is one of Burgundy’s defining négociant houses. Head winemaker Frédéric Barnier focuses on a low-intervention approach designed to express individual sub-regional terroirs cleanly and accurately across their portfolio.
Hand-picked at optimal maturity, the Chardonnay grapes are gently pressed and settled before fermentation. To balance freshness with the appellation's signature richness, fermentation and aging take place in French oak barrels (approximately 25% to 30% new oak) for 15 to 18 months on fine lees. Regular stirring of the lees (bâtonnage) is applied to build texture, complexity, and a luxurious mouthfeel before bottling.
Located in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, Meursault is world-renowned for producing rich, generous, and aromatic dry white wines. The 2023 vintage benefits from vineyards situated on east-to-southeast facing slopes. The soils are predominantly hard Jurassic limestone mixed with marl, offering excellent drainage and imparting a refined mineral tension to counterbalance the naturally opulent character of Meursault terroir.
The Louis Jadot Meursault 2023 displays a radiant pale golden-yellow color. The nose is rich and layered, revealing aromas of ripe yellow peach, citrus zest, toasted almonds, and fresh butter, complemented by subtle vanilla and white flower accents. On the palate, it is generous and velvety, featuring a gorgeous creamy texture harmonized by a vibrant streak of acidity. The finish is persistent, refined, and beautifully balanced with a stony mineral backbone.
