Falstaff: "Bright ruby colour with a fine garnet rim. Very clear and appealing nose, full of ripe dark cherries, some rosewood, also plums in the background. Lots of polished tannins on the palate, opens up in many fine layers, fine fruit, long finish."

Rizzi farms roughly 40 hectares across six celebrated crus in the Barbaresco zone, making it one of the largest, most interesting and most important estates in Barbaresco.

The grapes undergo maceration on the skins in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature for 28 days. Malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, followed by 18-21 months of ageing in large Slavonian oak barrels.

From the upper part of the Barbaresco Cru Rizzi. Vines were planted in 1972 and 1995.  The soil is geologically younger than the surrounding areas: more clayey and deeper.  The result is a classic and muscular wine with a great aging potential.

Exuberant aromas of candied cherries mingle with tantalizing sweet spices, creating an enticing bouquet. On the palate, dried herbal nuances intertwine with fine tannins, while vibrant and tart red currants dance alongside lively acidity that lift the palate while perfectly placed tannins frame each sip.
