King of Fruits:

Selected Premium Thai Durians

The durian season has arrived, and it’s time to savour the “king of fruits”! Gather with fellow durian lovers and head on over to city’super for the pop-up store of popular Thai durian brand Tropical Premium and bring home top-quality, in-season Thai durians.

Thai Kan Yao Durian
Kan yao means “long stem” in Thai, so this durian variety is also known as Long Stem Durian. As the Thai royal fruit, this durian has a buttery texture and is sweet and soft.

Thai Gem Durian
This top-quality durian is a rare variety that is in season from April to June. Its golden flesh has a rich and smooth flavour, a firm texture and a mild alcoholic aroma and bitterness. It is hailed as one of Thailand’s premium durians and is comparable to the Musang King Durian.

Thai Nok Yib Durian
The Nok Yib Durian is also known as “bird claw”, and is a rare variety that is only produced in the southern province of Phang Nga in Thailand. The fruit is small and resembles Kan Yao durian but with shaper and denser spikes. The ripe Nok Yib Durian has thick, firm and deep yellow flesh. It is rich like the Gem Durian, but with a more fragrant, sweet and intense aftertaste.

Pomelo’s Battle:

3 Must-try Thai Pomelos

Sweet and refreshing, pomelos are rich in vitamin C and dietary fibre. Both delicious and healthy, they are rich in antioxidants and can help digestion and reduce constipation. city’super has carefully selected three varieties of high-quality pomelos from Thailand so you can enjoy this extraordinary tropical flavour.

Thai Rouge Pomelo
Produced in the southern province of Lopi Buri in Thailand, this is the top variety of pomelo and accounts for about 5% of Thailand’s pomelo production. Its flesh is red and plump. We recommend leaving it indoors for 1-2 days until the skin turns slightly yellow before tasting for a higher level of sweetness.

Thai Pomelo
It has thin and though skin, and the flesh is plump and pale yellow. The juice is mildly sweet and perfect for making desserts such as mango pomelo sago.

Thai Amber Pomelo
The finely textured flesh is crisp and bursts open with refreshingly sweet juices as you bite through.

Sweet Summer Delights:

Three Must-try Thai Mangoes

When it comes to summer tropical fruits, sweet and juicy mangoes are definitely on the list. This summer, join city’super on a sweet tropical tasting journey and savour a variety of top-quality Thai mangoes.

Thai Rainbow Mango
This mango is in season in April with a very short supply period. The flesh is firmer and sweeter than the Nam Doc Mai variety, and belongs to the “sweet and rich” category. Before ripening, the skin will display three different colours at the same time, hence the name “Rainbow Mango”.

Thai Ruby Mango
This variety can only be grown in limited areas and is closely supervised by professor-level experts. A non-GM variety, the fruit is picked after ripening naturally on the tree, and the entire growing process is natural. The flesh is thick with a small seed. The fibres are fine and the fruit is smooth, sweet and juicy with a unique elegant floral fragrance. The average sweetness level is 18 degrees or higher.

Thai Wajyuku Mango
Also known as Nam Doc Mai Mango, this is a classic mango variety. The fruit is deep yellow and has soft and smooth flesh with a sweet floral fragrance. Commonly used to make Thai-style mango sticky rice.

A Taste of South America:

Selected Fresh Fruits from Columbia

Colombia is a major tropical fruit supplier in Latin America, producing many fruits with unique appearances, flavours and textures. If you’re up for trying something new, head on over to city’super and shop our range of seasonal fruits from Columbia.

Colombian Yellow Granadilla
The passion fruit has bright yellow skin and a rich aroma. The flesh is fragrant with a refreshingly sweet flavour. The fruit is rich in various vitamins and minerals. The dietary fibre of the black seeds is three times that of bananas.

Colombian Baby Banana
Baby bananas are petite in size, averaging only three to four inches in length. They have a very dense creamy texture and once ripe their flavour is rich and sweet with vanilla and caramel undertones.

Colombian Pitahaya
The Colombian yellow pitahaya is an oval-shaped yellow fruit with white flesh that has a bird nest-like texture. The flesh is delicate, smooth and very sweet, with a sugar level of 18 degrees or higher.
