Currently there are only five farms in Japan that cultivate this variety of strawberries, so it’s quite expensive and makes the perfect gift. Each piece weighs around 35g, and has a vibrant and peach-like aroma, mild acidity and is very sweet.

Every November to March, Japanese strawberries are in season and it’s the best time to savour this incredible fruit. As we still cannot travel to Japan in person, city’super has rounded up six types of popular strawberries from across Japan so you can enjoy them at home. Hailing from Oita prefecture in Japan, Berryz Strawberry is characterised by its bright red appearance and high level of sweetness.
Did you know: “Berryz” is a play on the words “berry” and “sweet” to highlight the fruit’s sweetness.

Exclusive to city’super. These strawberries come from Yamashita Farm in Fukuoka prefecture, and are cultivated with the latest temperature control system and mineral-rich natural groundwater, while avoiding using pesticides wherever possible.
Did you know: White strawberries are an improved variety stripped of anthocyanins in the skin and hence they retain a white colour even when ripe.
With a pretty cherry blossom pink appearance, this strawberry is sweet, smooth and richly fragrant without much acidity.
Did you know: light pink strawberries are also in the same family as white strawberries.
This variety is the result of seven years of hard work by Saga prefecture, Agricultural Cooperatives and strawberry farmers. Not only is the strawberry very large with a lovely appearance, the fruit is also red and juicy with the perfect balance of sweetness and acidity.
Tenshinomi is a premium white strawberry with an exotic fruit flavour. Only cultivated by Ide Farm in Saga prefecture.

Japan Fukuoka Prefecture Ise Farm:The farm cultivates insects and microbes to replace agricultural chemicals, which eliminate harmful insects and pathogens while growing tasty strawberries.
Japan Saga Prefecture Ide Farm (Karatsu Snowberry Association):
Located in Karatsu City in Saga prefecture, Ide Farm mainly produces three types of strawberries: Tenshinomi, Ohkimi and Snow Rabbit.
Japan Yamashita Farm:
Located in Fukuoka prefecture in Japan, the farm cultivates strawberries using the latest temperature control system and mineral-rich natural groundwater. What’s more, the farm also plays classical music in the greenhouses to reduce the staff’s work stress, and also avoids using pesticides wherever possible.
