Burgundy wines are prized for their terroir-driven elegance, complexity and unique flavour profiles. Made by wineries with a rich winemaking tradition, these wines are of exceptional quality. Here are some recommendations that will sure to surprise you!

Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret Bourgogne Rouge 2022
Domaine Mongeard-Mugneret has a winemaking history that dates back to 1620. The estate practices lutte raisonnée, a form of viticulture that is close to organic farming, ensuring that the grapes are grown with minimal intervention and a focus on environmental sustainability.

The 2022 Bourgogne Rouge is characterised by its vibrant red fruit aromas, complemented by subtle earthy notes. The wine has a supple structure with moderate tannins, making it approachable yet complex. A versatile choice that pairs beautifully with a variety of dishes.

Domaine Bitouzet-Prieur Meursault Clos du Cromin 2020
Sourced from the renowned “Clos du Cromin” vineyard in Meursault, this wine benefits from the region’s unique limestone-rich soils. The wine undergoes fermentation in oak barrels for 15 to 18 months, allowing it to develop a refined structure and depth. It is suitable for both immediate enjoyment and long-term ageing.

The 2020 vintage has received impressive scores, including 90-92 points from leading Burgundy authority Burghound. Expect a harmonious balance of flavours, including notes of roasted almonds, hazelnuts, elderflower and citrus, complemented by a rich mineral backbone that reflects the terroir of Meursault.

Domaine Jacques Cacheux Vosne-Romanee Aux Ormes 2016
The Cacheux family estates trace their history back to the early 1900s, and are now in their third generation. The estate spans seven hectares across several appellations in Burgundy, with a strong emphasis on sustainable practices, including biodynamic agriculture, avoiding the use of herbicides, insecticides and anti-rot applications, which reflects a commitment to environmental stewardship.

The Les Ormes vineyard is particularly celebrated for its ability to produce wines with elegance and finesse. It uses 100% destemmed grapes, cold maceration and fermentation techniques that enhance the wine’s expression of terroir.

The 2016 vintage has a well-structured profile, allowing it to age gracefully. This Vosne-Romanée pairs beautifully with a variety of dishes, including duck, lamb and mushroom risotto, making it an excellent choice for gourmet dining experiences.

In Love with Armagnac

You may be familiar with Cognac, but how much do you know about Armagnac? Unlike Cognac’s double pot distillation, Armagnac is traditionally only distilled once in a continuous still called an Alambic Armagnacais. Join us in enjoying Armagnac and discovering its history, craftsmanship and complex flavour profile.

Armagnac Delord Bas-Armagnac X.O. Premium
Aged for 25 to 45 years in new French oak barrels and then finished in old barrels. With a rich and powerful nose, it reveals delicious notes of orange blossom, dried apricot, candied citrus and sweet spices. On the palate, it has a full-bodied entry. Hints of Espelette pepper punctuate the palate, while a pleasant bitterness refreshes it.

This has been aged in new French oak barrels for more than 10 years. It has a very pleasant nose with notes of prune, quince, dried flowers and vanilla. Lightly woody and tannic on the palate.

Baron Gaston Legrand Vintage Armagnac
A well-known name in Armagnac, Baron Gaston Legrand’s legacy can be traced back to 1888 in Gascony. It is notable for its dedication to the traditional production method of single distillation in an Alambic Armagnacais, and the quality of its single-vintage Armagnacs. Aromas include hazelnut, peach, violet, lime, vanilla, plum and pepper, with vintages offering diverse taste profiles. Its Armagnacs are aged initially in new casks to impart flavours of fresh wood, and later in older casks for slow maturation.
