Top Picks
Japanese Ruby Roman Grape
These high-quality grapes produced in Ishikawa Prefecture have been cultivated and developed by the local team over a span of 14 years. Due to a very limited annual production, these rare grapes are often compared to precious jewels.

The grape skin is a deep wine red colour, and the fruits are twice as large as regular Kyoho grapes. They are sweet and juicy with a pleasant tartness. Grape will be classified as Ruby Roman Grape only when it is at least 31mm in diameter and weighs at least 30g, and the sweetness level must also reach 18 brix.

Japan Oita Izumi Farm Yuho Grape
Produced in a city'super "Direct from Farm” located in Oita Prefecture in northern Kyushu.

Sweet with a musky aroma, the Yuho grapes are seedless green grapes about the size of eggs, and are a hybrid of Shine Muscat and Tenzan grapes. These grapes are grown in sandy soil with excellent drainage, which is perfect for producing high-quality fruits with high sugar content.

Shine Muscat Grapes Direct From Okayama in Japan

About Okayama Funaho Grape Association
Farmers from the Association have extensive experience in grape cultivation and were honoured with the Grand Prize at the Japan Agricultural Awards in 2021 as a famous production area. They spare no effort in cultivating the highest quality Shine Muscat grapes. Starting from December of every year, they begin heating the greenhouses to wake up the grapevines. The Shine Muscat grapes from their farm are large in size and have a strong muscat aroma.

Top Pick:
Japan Okayama Funaho "Hareou" Shine Muscat Grape

“Hareou” is the top rank among the Muscat family of grapes. Only Shine Muscats harvested in Okayama with a sugar content of 18 brix or above can be labelled as “Hareou”. The local farms use the “one plant one fruit” technique in order to maximise nutrients for each plant. The greenhouses located on the steep eastern slopes receive the first sunlight of the day, giving the grapes thin and crispy skin and aromatic, firm and juicy fruits.

The Star of Yamanashi Prefecture:

A Very Rare Species — "Fuji no Kagayaki" Black Muscats

Looking for rare and delicious Japanese grapes? city’super is delighted to bring you a very precious variety of grapes from Japan’s Yamanashi Prefecture: "Fuji no Kagayaki" Black Muscat ! Grape lovers, don’t miss out!

Japan Yamanashi "Fuji no Kagayaki" Black Muscat
"Fuji no Kagayaki" is an original seedless variety developed by the Shimura Grape Research Institute in Fuefuki City, Yamanashi. It is a hybrid between Shine Muscat and purple-black grapes, and just like Shine Muscats, it can be eaten with the skin on.

In comparison to the refreshing taste of Shine Muscat grapes, Fuji no Kagayaki has a distinctively rich and intense sweetness similar to that of purple-black grapes, and a strong candy-like aroma reminiscent of Kyoho grapes. It is also sometimes described to have a honey-like flavour. Additionally, the skin itself provides a delicious and unique chewiness and it has a sugar content ranging from 24 to 25 brix, with a maximum of 30 brix.

About the Shimura Grape Research Institute
Established by Director Mr. Tomio Shimura, Shimura Grape Research Institute specialises in grape cultivation and development. They dedicate themselves to working with grapes, continuously engaging in variety improvement, and creating numerous renowned grapes for fresh consumption and wine-making purposes.

Best-selling Black Grapes:

A Battle of Flavour and Nutritional Content

Did you know? Purple and black grapes have rather distinct flavour profiles and nutritional values. Let’s discover some popular purple and black grape varieties and learn more about them.

Fun Facts about Black Grapes
Black grapes are less common compared to red and purple grapes. They contain nutrients that can help maintain good metabolism, boost immunity and reduce the damage done to the body due to staying up late.

Our Favourites:
Japan Aurora Black Grape
Mainly produced in Okayama Prefecture, these black grapes have plump, sweet and juicy flesh. They are large in size and have a firm texture. Thanks to their perfect shape and good shelf life, they make excellent gifts.

Japan Nagano Grandma Nagano Purple Grape
With very high sugar content and are very juicy with crispy flesh, these grapes can be enjoyed with the skin on and are sometimes known as the “Purple Shine Muscat”.

Japanese Pione Grape
Kyoho grapes with a musky aroma, rich fruitiness and high sweetness level. The flesh is delicate and juicy. The skin is thicker and tannic, so we recommend enjoying these grapes without the skin.
