    Fruit Lover’s Favourite:

    Japan Shizuoka Amane Melon

Amane Melon got its name from the Japanese phrase “A-MA-I-NE”, which means “it’s sweet”. Simply reading the name evokes feelings of joy! If you are also a fan of Japanese melons, then you must try this fragrant and delicious gift of happiness.

The Origin Story of Amane Melons
Shizuoka Prefecture is one of the main melon producing regions in Japan. Mr. Masaya Kageyama, a local melon farmer and Japanese melon cultivation expert, left the local melon agricultural association to pursue the most delicious melons and continued to research the secrets of melon cultivation.

During his research, Mr. Kageyama found the very rare and few-remaining melon seeds called "Hero of Locking" that had been preserved at the Faculty of Agriculture at Shizuoka University. The aroma and taste of this melon were considered the most perfect, yet it was rejected by the mainstream market due to imperfect net patterning and small fruit size, so it was almost extinct at that time. The Amane Melon is the result of Mr. Kageyama's hard work after multiple experiments, which is a hybrid of "Hero of Locking" and Arus melons.

    Amane Melon’s Secret to Sweetness

  • Exclusive "W Dual Ripening Technology" strictly controls the melons’ water content to achieve the best ripeness and highest sugar content.
  • Taking transportation factors from the place of origin to the destination into account, the melons are only harvested when they reach the ideal ripeness on the tree.
  • One Plant One Fruit:

    Luscious and Premium Hijo Melons

Have you ever heard of the "one plant one fruit" cultivation technique? This is an exclusive cultivation technique designed specifically for Japanese melons, where only one fruit is left on each tree to absorb all the nutrients, resulting in sweeter, more fragrant melons with higher nutritional content. Visit city'super to bring home high-quality melons from Japan's Matsumoto Farm, which uses the "one plant one fruit" planting technique. Don’t miss out on savouring this unforgettable taste.

Hero Item: Japan Matsumoto Farm Higo Green Melon
Matsumoto Farm only uses organic fertilisers certified organic by JAS in Japan (such as lactic acid bacteria, seaweed, photosynthetic bacteria and yeast) to produce a large amount of natural plant extracts containing amino acids. The average sugar content of their melons is 14 to 16 degrees or even higher.

    Japanese Fruit Art:

Nice Ways of Melon Plating and Cutting

The Japanese enjoy creative ways of cutting fruits and elevating food presentation through refined knife skills. If you also want to try creating some Japanese aesthetics at home, visit city'super to shop our curated selection of Japanese melons. Unleash your creativity and feast your eyes and palate.

    Japanese Melon Recommendations:

Japan Kumamoto Oyama Farm Higo Green Melon
Grown by Kumamoto Oyama Farm, which has over 30 years of cultivating melons. The local soil is rich in minerals, and the melons produced in the area tend to have a sweetness level of 15 degrees or more.

    Japan Kochi Emerald Melon
A rare variety from Kochi’s Yasu Village that is only cultivated by 10 farmers. The melons are grown in a greenhouse where water and soil are strictly monitored, so as to create the ideal balance between the nonwoven fabric, drip irrigation and soil, hence rendering each melon a precious gem.

    Japanese Home Run Melon
A white-fleshed melon from Kumamoto prefecture without the netted pattern. When ripe, the melon becomes honey-coloured with a sweetness level of around 15 degrees.
