We are committed to promoting sustainable development and attach great importance to food quality. Most eggs currently sold retail by city'super are cage-free or free-range, but we are committed to fully implementing a cage-free egg policy in Hong Kong, mainland China and Taiwan by 2025.
We support the development of sustainable, eco-friendly fisheries, so environmental damage during food processing can be reduced, and pledge to never sell endangered species such as Japanese eel, wild bluefin tuna and golden threadfin bream. Since 2022, we have also been part of WWF-Hong Kong’s Eco-Seafood Corporate Membership Programme, which aims to strengthen eco-friendly seafood procurement. We also partner with local brands to provide customers with locally bred seafood that meets sustainable seafood standards.

Fair trade not only allows growers and producers to receive fairer returns, but also enables a long-term business relationship between the two parties. From planting to producing and trading, every step must meet relevant standards in order to be certified, so there aren’t many food products with the fair trade label on the market.
We support fair trade products and ensure workers and farmers are treated fairly and with respect, so that the producers can continue to engage in sustainable, environmentally friendly production processes. Next time you shop for groceries, be on the look out for common Fair Trade-certified food products, such as coffee, cocoa, chocolate, tea, bananas, wine, sugar and honey. We provide tangible support to the fair trade community.
